What is SuberPad?

SuberPad is an innovative saddle pad designed to enhance comfort and fit for both horse and rider. Developed by David Ahn, a master farrier and saddle maker with over 35 years of experience, the pad utilises a unique filling of granular cork that molds to the horse’s back, distributing the rider’s weight evenly.

Key Features

Granular Cork Filling: Acts like a bean bag, conforming to the horse’s back for a customized fit.

Natural Materials: Made without plastics; the cork is sustainably harvested from the Quercus Suber tree, which isn’t harmed during the process.

Machine Washable: Can be cleaned with plain water; absorbed sweat acts as a foaming agent.

Adjustable Thickness: Drying overnight on a radiator makes it thinner; using it damp or wet makes it thicker and enhances adhesion.

Usage Tips

1. Preparation: Shake and pat the pad to distribute the cork evenly.

2. Placement: Position the pad on the horse’s back with the central groove along the spine.

3. Saddle Fit: Place the saddle on the pad, ensuring about 2–3 cm (1 inch) of the pad is visible in front of the saddle.

4. Girth Adjustment: Girth up firmly and check tightness after a few minutes of riding, as the pad will settle under pressure.

5. Thickness Adjustment:
• To make the pad thinner: Dry it overnight on a radiator.
• To make it thicker: Use it damp or wet, which also enhances adhesion.
